Revealing the Fingerprint of a Material. The strength, toughness, and entire character of a metal are not visible on its surface; they lie hidden within its internal, micro-scale structure. Our Microstructure Analysis facility is where we “dive” into this microscopic world to uncover the secrets behind a material’s performance.
Through a meticulous metallography process—from cutting and polishing to chemical etching—we reveal the unique “fingerprint” of each material. Using optical microscopes and image analysis software, we can analyze various crucial aspects such as grain size and shape, the phases formed, and the distribution of reinforcing particles within a composite.
This analysis is the heart of all our research. By understanding a material’s microstructure, we can accurately validate the success of manufacturing processes, predict how the material will behave under stress, and ultimately, engineer materials with specific, superior properties.
