Strengthening Manufacturing Innovation, FT UNS and PT. CNC Controller Indonesia Collaborate to Develop Advanced Welding Machine

RG METALS – In a strategic step to align higher education with industrial needs, the Metals Research Group (RG) from the Faculty of Engineering (FT), Sebelas Maret University (UNS), is collaborating with PT. CNC Controller Indonesia, a leading company in automation and national robotics. This comprehensive partnership will focus on developing an advanced welding machine, the CNC Friction Stir Welding (FSW) Machine.

The development of this advanced FSW machine has become a priority, considering the high demand for this technology in the Indonesian manufacturing industry. The goal is to create a nationally produced FSW machine with competitive quality that can support various industrial sectors.

The “Link & Match” program is the foundation of this collaboration. Next, this project will also involve students through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program. PT. CNC Controller Indonesia will provide direct practical experience to UNS students, equipping them with competencies relevant to the professional world.

“This synergy helps us at the university enhance the real-world experience for students and faculty. Students will have the opportunity to get directly involved in a project at PT. CNC Controller Indonesia,” stated Prof. Dr. Triyono, ST., MT., IWE, as the Head of the Research Group.

The Dean of FT UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Wahyudi Sutopo, S.T., M.Si., welcomed this initiative. “This ‘Link & Match’ model is what we continue to promote. This is a complex project, so the development of a professional, competent, and highly integrity-driven workforce is essential for them to remain relevant and competitive.”

It is hoped that this collaboration will produce an innovative and competitive national FSW machine, serving as tangible proof of a successful synergy between academia and industry in advancing global-scale manufacturing technology.
